He received his B.Sc and M.Sc degrees from Sharif University of Technology, Iran and his PhD in Manufacturing from UMIST, U.K.. Fadaei Joined the newly-created manufacturing group and helped the rapid growth of the department in manufacturing while he was the principal investigator of the manufacturing workshops and labs. He was also the head of manufacturing group from 1999 to 2003 where he expanded the group in the area of non-traditional machining, metrology and CNC. His teaching and research efforts have focused on Bioengineering, advanced manufacturing processes, innovation and design related to non-traditional processes and Bioengineering.
Nearly 65 graduate students have been mentored by Dr. Fadaei to the completion of their degrees. He has published over 160 papers in various journals and conference proceedings and authored a book on Wire cut EDM and co-authored a book on Modern and high speed sheet metal forming. Fadaei’s present research focus is in the field of micro fabrication, bioengineering and non-traditional manufacturing processes. His current interests are developing bio-sensing technology, micro-fluidic devices, Ultrasonic assisted wire EDM and Micro-Nano fabrication. His research mission is creative, collaborative, interdisciplinary and impactful for the benefit of the students, professions and the common good. He is the investigator of the Bioengineering Innovation Center for Cancer at the IUT which is a center for the collaboration of professionals from different engineering departments and medical schools. This lab is currently focused on developing point-of-care devices for detecting and testing of cancers. By merging the advances in microfluidics with microfabrication technologies, the group is trying to introduce novel platforms that lead to fast and accurate detection of Circulating Tumor Cells in early stages.
Dr. Fadaei has served on the organizing and scientific committee of several national/international conferences and is the recipient of 15 international and national awards and 24 patents.
